New Board Members

A new school year is beginning and with it comes a new Home and School Association Board.  This year’s board members are: Cathy Martinez, President;  Amy Deubelbeiss, Vice-President;  Dan Albrecht, Treasurer;  Linda Baumert, Secretary;  Marg Bohy, Erica Buescher, Carol Kelly, Katy Morphew, Mike Steele and Lori Weskamp, volunteer coordinators.  Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.  We are here to help.

What is Home and School Association?

The Home and School Association is an organization much like a PTA.  It’s purpose is to promote better communication, cooperation and service between St. John’s school and parents.  The Home and School also supports the school financially with money earned through a few lucrative fundraisers.
There are four general meetings throughout the year.  Parents are strongly encouraged to attend these meetings to contribute your ideas and to keep up-to-date on school happenings.
Every St. John’s School family is a member of the Home and School Association.  Annual membership dues of $35/family are included in each year’s tuition.

New and Used Uniform Sales

Used uniforms will be on sale throughout the school year.  They will also be sold at all Home and School meetings.  They are reasonably priced and readily available for those uniform emergencies! The used uniforms are available in the CCD room (Kindergarten/Preschool wing).

New uniform store will be open four times a month throughout the school year.  For those of you not familiar with the uniform store, please come check it out.  We carry Dickies brand uniforms at a great price.  Contact Amy Deubelbeiss or Roberta Barreda with any questions you may have.

Room Parents

Room parenting is a great way to be involved at St. John’s, meet other parents and get to know your child’s classmates and teacher.  It only requires someone that likes to have fun with kids and knows how to do a little planning.  The primary responsibilites include: planning the Halloween, Christmas and Valentine parties.  Room parents from grades 1, 4 and 7 are also responsible for helping serve receptions for 1st Communion, Confirmation and Graduation.
The informational meeting and sign-up will be Monday Sept 17th @ 7:00 in the Music Room.  Please consider being a room parent for your child’s classroom.

Fundraisers

St. John’s Home and School Board oversees and organizes the principle fundraisers of the school each year.  These include chairback rental at NU football home games, magazine sales, POGO cards and new and used uniform store.  The monies generated from these fundraisers help support the school and buy extra things for the school.  Examples of this would be new library tables and chairs,  new playground equipment, back to school survival kits for teachers, Christmas luncheon for teachers and staff and cookies and punch for the Sacrament receptions.
If you are interested in volunteering for the NU football games please contact Mike Steele and/or Erica Buescher.  The Home and School makes $1200/game if we have 25 volunteers working.  It’s a great way to see NU games for FREE!
