Physical Education

We start off the year with flag football and soccer for the older classes, trying to make use of good fall weather. With the younger classes, we begin with basic skills such as kicking, dribbling (hands), dribbling (feet), catching, and throwing. We also work on motor patterns such as running, skipping, galloping, hopping, jumping, sliding, and leaping. Reminder: Please wear tennis shoes for safety and comfort!!
I have five basic P.E. rules that I ask all classes to follow. They are:
Practice good sportsmanship at all times.
Participate to the best of your ability.
Listen to and follow directions.
Tennis shoes must be worn and tied.
No pop, gum, or candy allowed in the gym during class.
Grades 5-8 are graded on a scale of 0-10, 10 being the best and 0 meaning that the student was asked to leave the class. Participation, sportsmanship, and behavior are all figured into this score, which is 80% of the quarter grade. The remaining 20% comes from written work over rules of the game, positions, etc. Grades K-4 are graded on a Satisfactory scale.
All classes have Physical Education two times a week, with the possible exception of KA or KB. The P.E. schedule is as follows:
